Lawrie Ryan: Advanced Physics (second edition) - Reading Guide

For a complete overview see the Syllabus for CCVX Preliminary Examination in Chemistry.
Most is covered in this book, but not all !!!
Sometimes, the book covers more.

It might be a good idea to start with the extra sections at the end of the book.

some differences between this book and our programme:
  • page 405 pH= -lg [H+] We use [H3O+] instead of [H+] when solved in water.
  • page 406 HCl(aq), page 108 NaOH(aq) We use NaOH(s) or Na+ and OH-.
  • page 208 CH3CH2-O-H with O with only one pair of electrons which are not bound.
  • page 245 CH2-O-CO-(CH2)16-CH3 : in structure we write C=O , like in COOH also in structure of formule.
